Official Home Pages

  • The Geneseo home page is an official publication of the University. Unless otherwise indicated, all materials, including text and photographs, appearing on the home page or subsequent official home pages of specific departments are copyrighted and should not be reproduced without written permission from the University.
  • If a home page represents a recognized unit of the institution, it is considered official, regardless of the file location.       Official home pages are a reflection of the University. It is important for all contributors to ensure that their information is well-organized, accurate, and timely.
  • Home pages linked to the Geneseo home page may be created by academic departments, programs, centers or institutes, governance groups, and administrative departments
  • The Geneseo Official home page is the responsibility of the Web Development Team reporting to the Office of the Provost.
  • Student organizations recognized by the College are entitled to email accounts and web space.
  • A primary contact must be identified for the creation and maintenance of all official home pages. This person's name and e-mail address must be included on the page. The contact is responsible for periodically reviewing and updating the information.
  • Geneseo web pages using the template provided by CIT may not alter the template graphics or template layout.
  • All official pages must contain a link back to the home page of the University (http://www.geneseo.edu), and an exit page is to be used when linking to external web sites containing information pertaining to SUNY Geneseo.

Personal Home Pages

  • The University encourages students, faculty and staff to participate in the expansion of the University's presence on the World Wide Web. All users are expected to conform to University policies without the need for prior review.
  • Personal pages MAY NOT contain the Official Geneseo logo.
  • Personal home pages must contain the author's up to date contact information.
  • No material included in personal home pages may violate any laws, including but not limited to those regarding obscenity, harassment of others or copyright. Any person who knowingly violates such laws in their interaction with the Internet will be subject to the loss of their access privileges and possible prosecution.
  • Personal Web pages may not be used for commercial purposes.
  • Individual students may create their own home page. Each student home page must include the disclaimer that neither the page contents nor the link identifiers are monitored, reviewed, or endorsed by the campus. A University-prepared disclaimer will be provided for this purpose.
